Requirements for Peer Mentors
​
  • Students must be a sophomore, junior, or senior who will be enrolled as a full-time student for the academic school year in which they will serve as a Peer Mentor. 

  • Students must have a cumulative 2.5 grade-point average or better.

  • Students must be able to attend weekly meetings on Mondays at 4:00 pm. 

  • Students must attend mandatory/training orientation session.

Get Involved

Requirements for Mentees

  • Must be an incoming freshman or transfer student.

  • Mentees selected must express an commitment to Meet Your Mentor at least four (2) times a month, attend mandatory “Meet Your Mentor Social, attend at least one (1) activity per month sponsored by the program, and attend at least two (2) HCDC university-wide programs per semester. 

  • Mentees must complete a statement of reflection of their experience in the program at the end of each semester and participate in an end of the year assessment of the program. 


 

Application​ 

Become a Peer Mentor 

 

The Peer Mentor selection process begins in February of each year with interest sessions. Interviews, both individual and group, will take place during the month of March. Peer Mentors will be selected and notified in April. In order to receive an application, students interested in becoming a mentor must attend at least one interest session.

Become a Mentee

 

  • Gain access to a strong academic and social support network

  • Get connected with faculty and staff here at Mississippi State

  • Be informed about mutilcultural event, prgrams, and orgranizations

  • Meet new people, make new friends and have new experiences and opportunities

  • Profit from having a mentor to provide advice and guidance during the first year
